Three volunteers complete Mental Health First Aid training!

We’re excited to share that three of our volunteer committee members have recently completed Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training! This means that we’re now better equipped to support the well-being of our players and members, recognising when someone might be struggling and offering early help. The volunteers are Becks Shaw (Equality Officer), Amanda Robson (Seapals Team Secretary), and Georgia Rooney (Club Secretary).

The training covered how to listen with empathy, have open conversations around mental health, and guide people towards professional help if needed. It also focused on reducing the stigma around mental health and provided tools for self-care—something that’s important for all of us.

The aim was for our committee members to have the skills to confidently provide first-level support while knowing the importance of boundaries and confidentiality. The course itself was designed to be as accessible and inclusive as possible, with a mix of discussions and activities over 14 hours, led by experts from Mental Health First Aid England. We want to give massive thanks to our volunteers for investing the time for the good of the club.

We’re committed to creating a positive and supportive environment for everyone. This new training is a key part of that, helping us ensure that our players feel heard, supported, and valued—not just on the pitch, but off it too.

We’re proud to be part of this movement in football, and we’re always looking for ways to build a healthier, more inclusive club. If you want to know more about how we’re supporting mental health at the club, or if you’d like to get involved, feel free to reach out.

Please note that any conversations initiated with any of our team will be treated as confidential.
